DAY ONE MILITARY DIET

Yay yay yay! 

I have completed day one of the diet!

I have eaten-

Breakfast:  

This is one piece of wholemeal toast with two WHOLE tablespoons (30g) of peanut butter. Wow. That was a lot of peanut butter, way more than I would normally have eaten but still I enjoyed it, it felt like a treat to be honest ha. There is a caffeinated black tea with it. What is not included in this diet is the grapefruit that I was supposed to eat. I didn’t have any grapefruit in the house, unfortunately, so the substitution was for a half teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water. I drank this and it was foul. However, it is supposed to kick start your metabolism or fat burning process in the liver! 

Lunch:

 

Lunch was delish, but very little as you can see. This was all I ate. Usually I finish off with some other vegetables like cucumber and cherry tomatoes and I did actually crave them! However I stuck to my guns. So here, I drank one caffeinated tea again. I ate one piece of wholemeal toast with a can of tuna. I did season the tuna with salt and pepper which I don’t normally do, I would put a sauce on it but I didn’t.

Here is my dinner. They told us to eat a deck of cards sized piece of meat (85g) and a cup of green beans. I didn’t have either of these and so I ate 3 slices of ham, 1 slice of pastrami, a lot of lettuce and cucumber which came to about 31 calories which is the amount the green beans would have come to. On top of that I ate:

 

I ate half a banana and an apple. Also I was allowed to eat a whole cup of vanilla ice cream which I substituted for 187g of Greek yogurt with 30g fruit jam which was probably a lot less calories. 

I don’t feel hungry at the moment. I drank nine cups of tea/water throughout the day plus a Vitamin C tablet which was 10 calories.

I did work out my calories just to see how many it was- 964! That’s so so low. I didn’t do any exercise today and I did feel a bit dizzy at times but I just had to drink some water and I was fine!

So that’s the end of day one.

You may wonder what sparked my decision to do this diet. Well. Apparently I weigh 11 stone 0.4 lbs. I cried. I know I have been binging lately but I didn’t deserve to be that weight. Anyway with the wedding approaching it has frightened me into dieting hardcore style.

Wow I haven’t written on this blog in so so long so I definitely owe you lot an update!

I’m currently 10 stone 9.5lbs and the wedding is 4 weeks away today. I don’t think I’m going to manage to lose enough weight to be 9 stone 13lbs as I’m going to be honest with you I’ve hit a binging wall! Every time I don’t eat very much, I binge so much the next day and eat the calories I otherwise would have lost weight on. So unfair. It got so hard and I just felt like shit so then I concentrated on trying to just eat 1400 but I can only maintain on that amount, it is very hard to lose weight. I think that might be my basal metabolic rate, or around the 1500 mark so what is the point in me trying to lose weight on that? It would take months! No one can weight that long.

I’ve decided that eating 1200 calories is hell on earth, the majority of the time unless I feel ill or extremely bloated?

I don’t really have a recent picture of my body but maybe I’ll take one soon, there’s not much change- maybe a bit of weight loss off my stomach and my legs are more muscular because I’ve been walking so much! I have been walking 10,000-15,000 steps everyday.

Anyway, I will try and post more but I can’t promise it, my degree takes over my life and living with other people makes it harder to find time to be by myself.

End of Day Thirty

Hi everyone, I apologise for the late updates but I have been super busy as per usual.

This was my in between mediocre day, where I was reducing my calorie intake from CRAZY over to the normal and then I will reduce it back down to the 1000-1400 mark.

Here is my update then for 28/09/14:

Breakfast: Green tea 1kcal, Kiwi fruit 44kcal.

Total: 45kcal.

Lunch: Homemade tomato soup 60kcal, birdseye fish fingers 153kcal, tartar sauce 22kcal.

Total: 236kcal.

Tea: Brown pasta 255kcal, frozen sweetcorn 115kcal, frozen peppers 29kcal, tomato and mascarpone sauce 297kcal (how this is possible for sauce I don’t know), fried chicken 106kcal.

Total: 857kcal.

Snacks: Raspberries 3kcal, laughing cow light blue cheese triangle 25kcal, 2x jammie dodgers 150kcal, malt fruit loaf 300kcal, gala apple 47kcal, spearmint chewing gum 15kcal, 4x mints 40kcal.

Total: 580kcal.

Overall input was 1718kcal and I walked 5 miles burning 284kcal= 1434kcal.

Not a bad day overall.

End of Days Twenty-Eight and Twenty-Nine

Hi everyone,

It has taken me real courage and strength to upload these updates and as you can see, I have had a SERIOUS bingle FILLED two days. I am seriously annoyed at myself because I have probably reversed all of my hard work for the past thirty-odd days. How/why did I do it, you might ask. Well because I have been pretty depressed recently, I had a cold and (tmi) but I was due on. These are no real excuses why I decided to 3,000 calories in one day on a sausage roll, doritos, hot chocolate, a bakewell tart for breakfast, 8 crackers throughout the day, ICE CREAM and a million raisins. The thing is, it’s already had an affect- I feel more bloated like I used to before. I’m not sure what happened, just whatever I ate/drank was not enough? I just kept going and the day after was worse because I found cake icing and ate that. So glad I’m going back to university today where if I have a binge session, it’s limited because I have hardly any food! I need to stop coming home when I’m upset too- it’s ridiculous.

Anyway, please excuse me but I’m not going to dwell on these two days as I am so ashamed and am starting off fresh today. I am going to walk 4 miles from the train station to my house to get back at myself for it. Hopefully, it will be a better day and I won’t give in to temptation like I have done for the past two days.

This is a formal apology to my body and I’m going to get back on track today! No alcohol, more fruit&veg, more water, more motivational videos and thinspo, more university work and hopefully a better body!

End of Day Twenty-Six

Today (24/09/14) was possibly one of the worst days of my life and I feel like this blog has just turned into me ranting about my life. I need to let it out somewhere though and this seems to be the best place. I was so hungover I barely did anything except sleep and eat.

Here is the update:

Breakfast: 1 Nectarine 70kcal.

Total: 70kcal.

Lunch: *Raspberry Crumble* Granulated sugar 160kcal, plain flour 68kcal, butter 110kcal, frozen raspberries 66kcal.

Total: 404kcal.

Tea: CHINESE TAKEAWAY AGAIN- Sweet and sour chicken with rice 567kcal, 3x mini spring rolls 237kcal, Onken mango and passionfruit yogurt 203kcal.

Total: 1,007kcal.

Snacks: Mini cheddars 129kcal, cherry tomatoes 20kcal, frozen sweetcorn 144kcal, jammie dodgers 150kcal.

Total: 443kcal.

Overall input was 1,924kcal!

AWFUL. All of this weight I’ve lost is just going to come piling back on unless I do something SOON. Tomorrow? Think I need to look at some serious thinspo.

End of Day Twenty-Four

Hello lovelies,

Actually an update on the day I completed it and it was a terrible day, as the past few days have also been! I really need to get my act together with this but it’s literally impossible when I go out and drink so many times a week- I’m going out tomorrow too. I could not drink but I wouldn’t have as good a night as when I do drink so that’s not really an option, we’ll see. I managed to cut down on what I ate whilst drunk yesterday so maybe there is hope. I will exercise properly tomorrow too with swimming and walking.

Update for 22/09/14:

Breakfast: Nectarine 70kcal.

Total: 70kcal.

Lunch: Pesto Chicken Sandwich 315kcal (I don’t understand how a light choices option is still over 300 calories? This world has gone mad!), low fat houmous 90kcal, cucumber 16kcal, cherry tomatoes 24kcal, carrot stick 5kcal.

Total: 450kcal.

Tea: SIX Chinese hoisin duck pancakes 570kcal, Sweet and sour chicken with rice 567kcal, Sweet and sour chicken balls 300kcal.

Total: 1,437kcal!!

Snacks: Spearmint gum 7kcal.

Total: 7kcal.

Overall total input was 1,964kcal- 242kcal walking= 1722kcal.

Not overly bad, I shouldn’t put weight on from this but I probably will. It’s weigh-in day in our house tomorrow so we’ll see how I have done compared to the others.

End of Day Eighteen

Hello everyone,

Just another boring daily update I’m afraid, nothing too exciting. I am realised that my blog has actually gotten quite boring over the past few weeks that I haven’t had wifi but don’t worry as I’ll be posting a lot more interesting things. If anyone has any requests also, please let me know.

You’ll be pleased to hear that I am now swimming! I am going to try and swim 2/3 times a week depending on how busy my week is. I love swimming and I’m writing this having swum twice now and it’s just so good.

However, as you can see from myfitnesspal, today was quite a bad day because… I WENT OUT AND DRANK AROUND 800 CALORIES WORTH OF WHITE WINE. 800 calories… I’m not even kidding. I hate alcohol. I have had enough of it and all it does is make you stupid and bloated and feel sick. Had I not drunk the alcohol, my day still wouldn’t have worked because I had a 4am chips. Nightmare- not as many calories as when I went to Mcdonalds but still pretty bad.

Anyway, here is my update for 16/09/14:

Breakfast: 1 nectarine 70kcal.

Total: 70kcal.

Lunch: A chocolate fruit club bar 118kcal, gala apple 52kcal, Sainsbury carrots with chunky houmous 135kcal.

Total: 305kcal.

Dinner: Chicken and ham pie (homemade) 200kcal, roasted potatoes 202kcal, carrots 17kcal, green tea 0kcal.

Total: 419kcal.

Snacks: 4x krackawheat 136kcal, white wine 800kcal, chips 400kcal.

Total: 1,336kcal.

Exercise: I walked 5 miles at a moderate pace so approx. 242kcal burnt.

Total input: 2130-242= 1888kcal.

This is SO BAD (yes, I know I’m beginning to say this a lot) but actually not AS bad as some other days and not as bad as the last time I went out drinking. I burnt off those chips today in one swim session so its not all bad. Sometimes I wonder if splitting the days into calories is the best method, perhaps having a weekly amount of calories. Or would that just be a lot of big numbers and be very confusing? I think I’ll stick to daily.

End of Day Seventeen

Hey lovelies,

I am finally getting up to date with my blogging woo! I’m writing this the day after I did it so I’m almost there, I’ll be getting wifi on Wednesday so then I’ll be more religious with it, honest! I am seventeen days into my journey and I can honest say there is a change! I weighed myself this morning and I am 10st 10lbs which is so so good for me, I haven’t been this in years and I’m not stopping now. I can’t quite believe I’m actually losing weight!

I’m living with two of my university friends this year and they’ve come with a very healthy, fit attitude to life and one girl has previously lost a lot of weight so she is an ‘expert’ or so she claims. I’m not going to let her govern me though as I know what works for me. She uses weight watchers and I don’t want to use the products as they often have more calories than the substitute foods! Also I watched her eat three biscuits this evening because she hadn’t eaten all of her points worth during the day- surely if you’re no hungry you shouldn’t eat? Just my opinion. She also wants to document our weight losses but I don’t want to. I am the heaviest and I’m just not doing it.

I thought it would be great to live with people keen on a healthy lifestyle but I’m now feeling pressure which I really don’t want and I don’t think will help my weight loss but we’ll see.

Anyway here is my update for yesterday (15/09/14):

Breakfast: 4x krackawheats 136kcal (these were actually eaten throughout the day to stop hunger, I ate two for breakfast).
Total: 136kcal.

Lunch: fruit cake 280kcal, gala apple 52kcal.
Total: 332kcal.

Tea: veggie tesco bean burger 225kcal, brown rice 216kcal, cherry tomato 16kcal, cucumber 8kcal, barbecue sauce 19kcal, green tea 0kcal.
Total: 484kcal.

Snacks: nectarine 70kcal, diet lemonade 2kcal.
Total: 72kcal.

Exercise- 64 lengths (25m pool) took me 45 minutes! Apparently that means I burnt 335 calories. I did 32 front crawl and 32 breast stroke.
– Half an hour walk burnt 122kcal!
Total: 457kcal.

Total input: 1,024- 457= 547 input.

Yay so happy with that, bring on tomorrow!

End of Day Sixteen

Hi everyone,
I know I haven’t been blogging 100% on time for the past two and a bit weeks but I can’t quite believe I’m still at it! It really is showing my motivation this time round to change my life and so far, it seems to be working.

Today I am getting back into my exercise regime. I am going to try and do exercise on three different days and hopefully burn 400 calories ish each time. Today I burnt 459 calories doing exercise which I am very happy with! Nearly burnt off the Indian takeaway I had yesterday. I thought I would let you know that as well as this I will be walking 2 miles most days to university lectures but I will not also count this in myfitnesspal or my daily updates as I often forget. I am being active every day though whether that is intense exercise or just walking a few miles.

Here are two pictures showing what I burnt doing Just Dance 4 and on the treadmill. However, I don’t go by the calories burnt on the treadmill as they are based solely on time and not on pace. So I looked online and they said I burnt 249 doing the treadmill- jogging and walking intervals with a total of 15 minutes running at 8km/h.

I had a pretty good day today!

Breakfast: Nectarine 70kcal, 1 Sea Salt Cracker 24kcal.
Total: 94kcal.

Lunch: Fruit cake 280kcal (I wasn’t hungry after exercising).
Total: 280kcal.

Tea: *Stuffed pepper* pepper 30kcal, feta cheese low fat 120kcal, baked beans 140kcal, onion 45kcal, cherry tomato 16kcal, sweetcorn 34kcal.
Total: 386kcal.

Dessert: peach yogurt 100kcal.
Total: 100kcal.

Snacks: 2x green teas 2kcal, diet lemonade 2kcal, club chocolate bar 118kcal.
Total: 122kcal.

So my overall input today was 983-459= 524kcal!
I am absolutely delighted by this because even without the exercise it was a good day! I’m back at uni and back on track. I think this proves that I really do need to exercise everyday in order to eat less because it really takes me appetite away! I will try and find the swimming pool tomorrow (15.09.14).
